House in a Can was established with the sole intention of providing a lower cost, but high-quality housing alternative to the South African and African markets, including Botswana, Angola, DRC and Nigeria.
In addition, the company ensured that the products selected address the following key challenges facing potential home owners:

The timing for the establishment of the company is perfect, considering that South Africa has the fastest growing middle class in the developing world, resulting in an abnormal growth in demand for entry level housing. It is well documented that the Department of Housing is experiencing a shortage in excess of 2 million homes for the RDP & informal settlement sectors alone.
The concept is relatively simple. The entire house is manufactured in a factory under ideal conditions with professional supervision. Every step of the manufacturing process is exposed to stringent quality control inspection and once passed, is containerized and shipped to site for final assembly.
Current capacity is 300 units per month with expansion plans already in place which will increase production to 1,500 units per month, in increments of 300 units every 3 months
The two co-founders, Louis Boshoff and Phillip Loots founded the company, on the 1st April 2007. These two businessmen have combined working and management experience of over 40 years.
The company’s mission is to make the option of quality home ownership affordable and accessible to all aspiring homeowners.
